Crete Date Palm Beach.

Date palm Beach in Crete is an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The date palms stand along the bank of the river at the Kourtaliotis Gorge, on the road to Plakias.

The visitors arrive by car or by small boat from nearby Plakias and Agia Galini. Some visitors walk from the road where the local bus drops them off, but does it seem to be a long walk and only suitable for the fit and healthy who are use to walking in the heat.

Reason Four. Whatever you chosen holiday style the Greek Islands will have a place that will match what you are looking for.

I visited Ia and was amazed by the sunset. It looks exactly like the picture you have above. The steep windy roads with white and blue houses. An amazing place to visit.

Oia is one of my favorite places in the world - so relaxing and fun. The Greek People have a "spirit" that I don't get anywhere else. I was just in Crete with my family a few months ago and we were at a traditional dancing night, and one of the Greek waiters said, "Isn't this great? You come here and forget all your problems." Very nice hub!

Hi kohuether I enjoyed visiting Oia so much that I would like to return one day just to check it was not just a beautiful dream; a very picturesque place to visit. You can see why artist love the place.

I agree that the Greek people always make you feel welcome and that a vacation to a Greek island is always relaxing especially once you slow your pace of living to suit the surroundings. I have been to a couple of local village festivals where the Greek families get up and dance, all ages happy together, wonderful to see. Now I am missing the place as we did not get to go this summer but hope to return next year. Thank you for visiting this page and sharing your comment here.

A really nice hub. And you're absolutely right, no two islands are the same. I've visited several of them over the years and they are all very much individual. In fact you've made me want to book another trip a.s.a.p! Lovely pictures too.

Hi cassiekp thanks for visiting this page and for leaving a comment here. Pleased you liked this article and the pictures of the islands.

Reading your comment I could n't help but think; yes whenever I look at photos of Greek islands I get that longing to return to one sometime soon. The need to seek a sunny island seems to be compelling when I wake up to yet another rainy day.

I had planned to go to Santorini and stay there for months when an opportunity for the U.S. came. I decided Santorini would have to be put on hold and of course it still is. Having been here for the last 30 years. oh my! how time flies by.

thanks for following me

De Borrah thank you,the last time I visted Greece was to Kos in May and the prices were reasonable, same as the previous year. I am not sure how the Greek crisis is affecting tourism I hope that the islands continue to be a popular vacation destination.
