Thank you Rebecca E. I wish the organic cotton clothes had been available when my children were babies. I had one child with eczema and soft fabrics were very important when buying clothes.

Organic matter (or organic material) is a matter that has come from a once-living organism; is capable of decay or the product of decay; or is composed of organic compounds.

Thank you recycleatee - yes cotton products when they have no further use will decay on a compost heap even though they take slightly longer to do so than growing plants added to the heap. I have done this with tee-shirts that are not good enough for recycling by giving to a charity shop or using for household dusters.

Thank you for your comment.

I love the idea that they are 100% biodegradable. No toxins from pesticides will be going into the ground. Polyester is a type of plastic in many clothes and it does not biodegrade.

Thank you for the comment here, I hope this page is useful to parents looking for soft clothes for their babies even if only for ideas. One of my children had a very sensitive skin and I had to search for clothes that were soft, even the stitching had to be in cotton or they caused skin irritation problems. Thankfully there is more choice now than n the past. The National Eczema Society in the UK did have some useful leaflets that I read at that time.
