Baby Seal Photos, pictures of seal pups on a beach.
65Seals like to be at the sea side.
A walk on a beach to take photos of baby seals with their mothers.
I live within travelling distance of the coast and luckily for me not too far away from a beach that is used in the winter months by mother seals and their pups. The seal mothers have their pups on this part of the coast and then remain there until the babies are old enough to leave the area.
The young seal pups are born with a white/cream colored coat, which darkens as they get older. The baby seals soon become plump because they are so well fed and cared for by the mother seals.
Here are some of the photographs that I have been fortunate enough to take on the beaches that the seals visit. Although I was to be able to walk on the beach and take these photos part of me would like this area to be cordoned off while the seal babies are there. I found it upsetting to see the concern on the faces of the seals as people walked their dogs on the beach, although wisely they kept them on their leads.
I hope you enjoy viewing these pictures of the seals and their seal pup babies.

A photo of a young seal pup, asleep on the beach
A mother seal resting with her pup.
When I first saw this next seal pup, it was so motionless that I was concerned that it was dead. However, after watching it carefully from a distance, I could see though was breathing as it's nostrils ans sides were moving as it slept.
A baby seal takes a long nap.
The baby seals who still had their white coats were the plumpest, the mother seal's milk is thought to be about 40-50% fat content.
The seal families keep a watchful eye of their young ones and you can tell that if you get to close they would defend their young ones.
I think theses two may be making plans for next year's baby seals.

What beautiful photos of these seals. They are so adorable. I was surprised to see the pups so large…they are well cared for by Mommy. :-) How many seals were there that day?

You are very lucky to be able to walk along a beach and see these seals. I am surprised to were able to get that close to the one that was sleeping, moma must not have been paying attention. You know thay can be dangerous where they have their young...Be careful! Wonderful hub, I loved the pics. Voted up and beautiful!
I agree with you completely! There are some people that would not be as careful about upsetting the seals as you were. I could be dangerous to both. I am glad you got the opportunity! :)
